THe Shea Center
Horses have been carrying people since before anyone built an engine. At The Shea Center in San Juan Capistrano they carry kids and adults who need it most, and they've been doing it since 1978. I've watched what happens when a rider who struggles on the ground sits tall on a horse. That's the same feeling I chase on canvas: strength, freedom, and no apologies. A woman and her dog, and nothing else in the frame. I stripped this one down the way I strip down a car: black, white, and the thing that actually matters. No words between them because none are needed. I painted it for the animals who get under our skin and the people who show up for them.
